Kitwe, Zambia – A surge in violent attacks by gangs operating in a similar manner to the notorious Tokota Boys has left residents of Kitwe on edge, demanding swift action from the Zambia Police to restore law and order in the city.

In recent weeks, isolated but violent incidents have been reported across different parts of Kitwe, sparking fear and insecurity among community members. The rapid proliferation of these gangs has raised concerns about the city’s safety and the ability of law enforcement to protect its citizens.

Charles Kabwita, a concerned resident and aspiring Mayor of Kitwe 2026, has urged the police command to intensify patrols, conduct thorough investigations, and dismantle the criminal networks terrorizing innocent citizens. “Our people deserve to live in safety and dignity,” Kabwita emphasized. “No child, woman, or man should feel unsafe walking the streets or living in their homes because of lawless gangs.”

Kabwita called for a collaborative effort between law enforcement, community leaders, parents, churches, and civil society organizations to curb the growing menace. “Together, we can reclaim Kitwe and ensure our city is once again a safe haven for all,” he said.
The protection of citizens must remain the top priority of the security wings, Kabwita stressed, as he urged the authorities to take decisive action to address the situation before it spirals further out of control.
