In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, young entrepreneurs are breaking barriers and pushing boundaries. One such individual is Mubanga Chanda, co-founder of Pegasus AI, a Zambia-based AI business company that’s making waves in the industry. Mubanga’s passion for innovation and entrepreneurship has led him to create a company that provides cutting-edge solutions to businesses and individuals.
With over a year in operations, the company has already achieved significant milestones, including developing a software solution for a UK-based client in the mental health space that connects therapists with patients using AI. Pegasus AI has also built automation systems for businesses to simplify major operational tasks.
To gain insight into his remarkable entrepreneurial journey, we sat down with Mubanga to hear his inspiring story firsthand.
TROY STORIES: Who is Mubanga, and what’s your academic background?
MUBANGA: Well, my name is Mubanga Chanda, I am an entrepreneur from Zambia and the co-founder of Pegasus AI. I have always been passionate about technology and its role in shaping the future. I pursued a Diploma in Information Technology at Evelyn Hone College from 2022 to 2024, which gave me a strong foundation in tech and problem-solving. Before that, I attended Moomba Secondary School, completing in 2021.

One of the things that shaped me was my drive to document my own AI journey. When I started experimenting with AI tools, I was so inspired that I began creating and sharing them on my YouTube channel (Mubanga Chanda AI). That documenting process not only sharpened my skills but also allowed me to build a community around AI learning and automation.
TROY STORIES: What drives your passion for innovation and entrepreneurship?
MUBANGA: What drives me is the idea of creating solutions that bring real value to people and businesses. Innovation, for me, is about transforming challenges into opportunities. Entrepreneurship is the vehicle that allows me to take an idea, build it into a solution, and see it create impact. AI opened my eyes to how powerful technology can be in addressing real-world problems, and that’s what fuels me every day.
TROY STORIES: What inspired you to co-found Pegasus AI, an AI business company in Zambia?
MUBANGA: The inspiration came from a realization that AI awareness and adoption in Zambia is still very limited, yet the potential is enormous. Many businesses rely on outdated systems and lose valuable time on repetitive processes. I co-founded Pegasus AI to bridge that gap—to educate, empower, and equip businesses with AI-driven tools to scale and innovate.

TROY STORIES: What inspired the name Pegasus AI, and what does it mean to you and the company?
MUBANGA: The name “Pegasus” comes from Greek mythology—the winged horse that symbolizes freedom, vision, and limitless potential. To us, Pegasus AI means giving wings to businesses through AI, helping them rise above limitations and move faster, smarter, and further. It’s a reminder that with the right technology, businesses can achieve heights they never imagined.
TROY STORIES: What services does Pegasus AI offer, and what sets you apart from other companies in the industry?
MUBANGA: Pegasus AI provides: AI-powered software development – building custom software integrated with AI.
Business process automation – creating systems that reduce repetitive tasks and increase efficiency.
AI consulting/consultation – working directly with businesses to understand their challenges and then designing AI and automation solutions tailored for them.
AI education and awareness – through workshops and content, helping businesses and entrepreneurs understand AI.
What sets us apart is our focus on education and accessibility. We don’t just deliver solutions; we ensure our clients understand the value of AI and how to use it effectively. That combination of consulting + implementation + education makes us unique.

MUBANGA: Pegasus AI is a relatively young company with over a year in operations, but we’ve already achieved meaningful milestones. We’ve worked with clients both locally and internationally, including developing a software solution for a UK-based client in the mental health space that connects therapists with patients using AI. We’ve also built automation systems for businesses to simplify major operational tasks.
Another milestone is building a strong online presence through my YouTube channel, where I document my AI automation journey. This has positioned Pegasus AI not only as a solutions provider but also as a knowledge hub for AI awareness in Zambia.

Automating repetitive processes for businesses to improve efficiency. Although most of our client prefer there project to be confidential. We are still build automating and documenting the results
TROY STORIES: What should people expect from Pegasus AI in the next year or two?
MUBANGA: People can expect Pegasus AI to roll out innovative AI-enabled platforms that make automation and AI adoption much easier for businesses. We also plan to expand our AI consulting and education initiatives, reaching more SMEs and startups. Our focus is on making AI accessible and practical for Zambia and Africa.
TROY STORIES: Are there any exciting projects or initiatives that Pegasus AI is working on or planning to launch?
MUBANGA: Yes, we are currently developing a new software platform designed to simplify how businesses build automations and integrate AI into their operations. It’s still in development, but once launched, it will make AI adoption more affordable and user-friendly. We’re also working on expanding our AI awareness program, helping entrepreneurs see how AI can transform their industries.

TROY STORIES: What are your future plans for Pegasus AI, and how do you see the company evolving?
MUBANGA: Our goal is to evolve from being a service provider to becoming a platform company that businesses across Africa and beyond can use to scale with AI. Long-term, we want Pegasus AI to be recognized as one of the pioneers that helped introduce AI-driven entrepreneurship in Africa, creating opportunities not just for large enterprises but also for startups and small businesses.
TROY STORIES: How do you stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in AI, and what insights can you share with our readers?
MUBANGA: I stay updated by constantly exploring new tools, studying AI research, and following thought leaders in the industry. I also learn by building and documenting my own AI projects, which helps me understand trends in a practical way.
One key insight is that AI is not only for big corporations—small businesses can adopt it too. Simple automations, smart data use, and customer support systems powered by AI can transform even a small operation. The earlier businesses begin, the more competitive they will be in the future.

TROY STORIES: What sparked your interest in photography, and how do you balance it with your work in AI?
MUBANGA: Photography has been a passion of mine since a young age. I founded Club MK Media to pursue it, working on shoots and creative projects. While Pegasus AI takes much of my focus today, I see photography as a creative outlet that complements my work in AI. In fact, my background in media made it possible for me to create and grow my YouTube channel, blending creativity and technology.
TROY STORIES: Do you have a favorite photography project or shoot that you’re particularly proud of?
MUBANGA: Yes, one that stands out is my work with Northmead Fitness Centre. Capturing the energy and the people there was both rewarding and inspiring. It taught me a lot about storytelling through visuals, something I now apply in how I communicate about AI.
TROY STORIES: Who are some notable clients you’ve worked with for photography projects?
MUBANGA: I’ve worked with Gabriel Kaoma, the owner of Northmead Fitness Centre, and Shazzy Hambe, a creative talent. These collaborations gave me valuable experience and exposure in the photography space.
TROY STORIES: What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs looking to start their own AI businesses in Zambia or Africa?
MUBANGA: My advice is:
a). Start small, but think big – Focus on solving one problem well.
b). Educate yourself and others – Knowledge is the foundation of adoption.
c). Be adaptable – AI evolves rapidly; flexibility is key.
d). Focus on impact – Don’t build AI just for hype; build solutions that create real value.
And above all, don’t wait. Africa has the chance to leapfrog into the future with AI, but it will only happen if young entrepreneurs take the initiative today.
