Music has long been a vital component of worship and ministry, serving as a powerful tool for inspiration, teaching, and praise. From the triumphant processionals of the Israelites to the strategic placement of musicians on the battlefield, music’s impact is undeniable. As the Psalmist writes, “Praise the Lord with the lyre; make music to him on the ten-stringed harp” (Psalm 33:2).

The Bible showcases music’s multifaceted role in worship and ministry, including praise, teaching, evangelism, and unity. A notable example is the fall of Jericho, where music played a pivotal role in divine intervention (Joshua 6:1-20).

Another striking instance is Paul and Silas, who, despite being imprisoned for spreading the gospel, sang hymns at midnight, prompting a miraculous earthquake that freed them and led to the conversion of their jailer and his household (Acts 16:25-26).

On October 25, 2025, the renowned Bethany Church Choir of Remnant Baptist Church in Emmasdale, Lusaka, proved that this ancient tradition remains alive and well, as they emerged supreme at the 2025 Choral Music Festival – Lusaka Baptist Fellowship Churches Association (LBFCA) Music festival.

Known for their soul-stirring harmonies and unwavering dedication to their craft, the Bethany Choir has long been a mainstay of musical excellence both within the community and beyond.

Under the expert leadership of Dr. Michael Chibuye, a renowned gospel music writer, performer, and conductor, the choir has consistently delivered performances that inspire and uplift. Their victory at the festival was therefore no surprise, as they scooped not one, not two, but three prestigious awards: 1st Position, Best Conductor, and Best Uniform.

As Dr. Chibuye accepted the awards, he attributed the choir’s success to the glory of God, saying, “This win is not just a testament to our hard work and dedication, but a testament to the power of music in winning souls for God’s kingdom.” He praised God for the gift of music and the talented individuals who use it to spread the message of hope and redemption.

But the accolades didn’t stop there. Later that day, at the prestigious OLIVE AWARD Ceremony held at the Government complex, Bethany Choir was honored with the Best Performing Choir of the Year award. Dr. Chibuye, receiving the award on behalf of the choir, expressed his gratitude to God and the membership of Bethany Church for their tireless efforts in the music ministry.

“We shall continue to use music as a tool to win souls for God’s kingdom,” he declared. “Music has the power to transcend boundaries, to heal the brokenhearted, and to bring hope to the hopeless. We are humbled to be part of this noble endeavor.”

As the Bethany Church Choir basks in the glory of their triumph, their victory serves as a reminder of the enduring power of music to inspire, uplift, and transform. May their melodious voices continue to be a beacon of hope and light in a world sorely in need of both.
