Lusaka, Zambia – Chrispin Chiinda, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Munali Constituency, has raised concerns over the rising cases of attacks by young people commonly referred to as “junkies” in the area.
Chiinda, who was speaking when he featured on a Money FM Radio program hosted by Nelson Zulu, highlighted the need for additional security measures to protect residents.

The aspiring MP specifically suggested that areas such as Chainda and Kamanga should have their own police posts to improve security in the constituency.
“The rise in junkie attacks is a serious concern that needs to be addressed urgently,” Chiinda said. “Once in office, we will work towards ensuring that our residents feel safe and secure in their homes.”
Chiinda attributed the insecurity in the area to the growing number of young people engaging in substance abuse and called for measures to rehabilitate them.

He suggested introducing the youths to the Zambia National Service (ZNS) voluntary training program to acquire skills and become productive citizens.
Chiinda emphasized the importance of relaxing the qualification criteria for the Zambia National Service (ZNS) voluntary training program to allow more youths to participate.

“All it requires is the energy to work, and as they go through the program, they can acquire the necessary skills,” he said. “These young people need skills and guidance,” Chiinda added. “If we can introduce them to the ZNS program, they can acquire skills and become better citizens who can contribute to the development of the constituency.”
The issue of security in Munali Constituency has been a concern for residents, with many calling for increased police presence in the area. Chiinda’s call for additional police posts is seen as a step in the right direction towards addressing the security challenge.
