Lusaka, Zambia – The Zed Nationals Bodybuilding Competition, a premier event in Zambia’s sporting calendar, is set to receive a major boost with the announcement that Fitness Physiques Africa will sponsor the Open Bodybuilding Category for the third consecutive year.

The competition, scheduled to take place on December 6th, 2025, at the Government Complex in Lusaka, is expected to draw top athletes from across the country, showcasing their muscular prowess and dedication to the sport.
Cathy Martin, a Zimbabwean-UK-based entrepreneur and fitness professional, affectionately known as ‘Boss Lady’, made the announcement in an interview, reaffirming her organization’s commitment to promoting fitness and bodybuilding in Africa.

As the founder of Fitness Physiques Africa and the Fitness and Physiques UK Federation, Martin has been instrumental in promoting fitness and bodybuilding across Africa. She is also the owner of supplement brand Transform Nutrition and gym wear line Fitwear-By-Cathy.

Her dedication to empowering young people and promoting healthy lifestyles has earned her recognition, including the Fitness and Health Entrepreneur of the Year award in the UK in 2021.

“The Zed Nationals is a pivotal event in Zambia’s bodybuilding calendar, providing a platform for athletes to demonstrate their hard work and talent,” Martin said. “We are proud to be associated with this event and look forward to seeing the incredible physiques that will be on display.”

Martin added, “We believe that fitness is not just about physical transformation, but also about mental empowerment and community development. By supporting this event, we hope to inspire a new generation of fitness enthusiasts and provide a platform for athletes to showcase their talents.”

Last year’s competition saw Nelson Chabota emerge victorious, successfully defending his title for the third consecutive year. Chabota, a representative of Kabwata Body Building and Fitness Gym, has been making waves in the bodybuilding scene, with impressive wins including three Mr. Kabwata Champion titles and a bronze medal at the prestigious Arnold Classic Africa.

The event is expected to feature top athletes, including William ‘Machine’ Sichone, the reigning Fitness Physiques Africa – UK Qualifier 2025 champion, who is leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of victory.

In an interview, Sichone said, “I’m feeling confident and focused, my training has been on point, and I’m ready to put on a show and bring my best to the stage.” His razor-sharp abs, chiseled biceps, and imposing physique are a testament to his unwavering dedication to the sport.

The Zed Nationals is not only a showcase of physical excellence but also a testament to the growing popularity of bodybuilding in Zambia. With its rich history and passionate athletes, Zambia is poised to continue producing world-class bodybuilders who will represent the country on the international stage.
