Up Close and Personal with Anxious Chileshe, Chairman of MACF LTD

With a steadfast commitment to creating lasting impact, Munobe Accountant Charity Fund Limited (MACF LTD), a pioneering organization dedicated to empowering marginalized communities through education, healthcare, and economic development initiatives, has established itself as a beacon of hope and transformation.

In this insightful and inspiring conversation, the visionary Chairman of MACF, Anxious Chileshe delves into the organization’s mission, its most notable achievements, and his vision for MACF LTD’s continued growth and influence. Anxious, an accountant by profession also shares his remarkable journey, from overcoming adversity to empowering vulnerable communities.

Born in Kasama, Northern Province, Anxious faced immense challenges, losing his mother at age 3 and his father at 7. Raised by his grandparents and later in different home environments, he narrowly avoided becoming an orphan. This difficult upbringing sparked his passion for helping others. “What motivates me to help and empower vulnerable groups comes from my background, which wasn’t smooth,” Anxious reflects.

“Having worked at an orphanage and a home for sexually abused girls, I realized the importance of making a difference and alleviating the situations surrounding my community.”

Anxious’s educational journey was marked by determination and focus. Despite being accepted into the School of Medicine and Chainama for Clinical Medicine, financial constraints prevented him from attending university. Undeterred, he pursued accounting studies through self-study and part-time programs, eventually becoming a qualified accountant. “I have never been to any college or university, but I have done 90% of my studies on self-study and part-time studying,” Anxious notes. “This enabled me to obtain ZICA technician, diploma in Accounting, CA advanced diploma in Accountance, and finally, CA Zambia in 2022, making me a fully qualified Accountant.”

In 2023, Anxious co-founded MACF LTD, a charity organization comprising accountants, students, and professionals. The organization’s mission is to raise resources for charitable initiatives across Zambia, supporting disadvantaged groups, including orphans, vulnerable communities, and individuals with mental or physical challenges.

As the Board Chairman of MACF LTD, Anxious provides an overview of the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives. “MACF LTD was established by accountants, student accountants, and like-minded professionals to raise and allocate resources for charitable initiatives across Zambia,” he explains. “Our primary objective is to support disadvantaged social groups nationwide, including the less fortunate, vulnerable communities, orphanages, elderly homes, hospitals, prisons, and individuals with mental or physical challenges.”

Under Anxious’s leadership, MACF LTD has achieved significant milestones, including donations to orphanages, support for vulnerable mothers, and career talks for students. “The organization’s mission is to raise resources for charitable initiatives across Zambia, supporting disadvantaged groups, including orphans, vulnerable communities, and individuals with mental or physical challenges. It hasn’t been a smooth ride, but I have a strong leadership team who are very supportive,” he says. “We have been able to tap into our pockets and ensure that we achieve our objectives.”

When asked about the guiding principle behind his personal and professional life, he offered a profound insight: “For me, the African proverb ‘Ubuntu’ – ‘I am because we are’ – serves as a constant reminder that our individual successes are intimately tied to the well-being of those around us.”

This timeless philosophy, he explained, underpins his passion for philanthropy and drives his commitment to MACF LTD’s mission of empowering marginalized communities. “In all aspects of my life,” he emphasized, “I strive to embody the principles of Ubuntu: empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of our shared humanity. By embracing this philosophy, I believe, we can forge a more just, equitable, and harmonious world – one where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Looking ahead, Anxious outlines plans for the organization’s growth and expansion. “We are working to establish provincial and district committees across all provinces where our members are located,” he reveals. “This will help bring MACF closer to communities and enable us to develop targeted initiatives.”

Anxious concludes the interview with a heartfelt appeal to readers. “We urgently need your support to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and care for widows, orphans, the sick, and the elderly,” he urges. “Every donation directly supports those in need, as our leaders are volunteers who receive no personal gain. Join us now and help bring hope to those in desperate need.”
