Chipangali MP Andrew Lubusha Pledges Support for President Hichilema, Citing National Interest

Chipangali Constituency Member of Parliament, Andrew Z Lubusha, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Hakainde Hichilema and his government, citing the administration’s notable development projects as justification. Lubusha’s endorsement comes amidst criticism from some quarters, with some accusing him of betraying his party, the Patriotic Front (PF).

In an exclusive interview, Lubusha commended President Hichilema’s administration for its transformative development agenda, which has brought tangible benefits to the people of Chipangali.

“The government’s achievements, including the installation of mobile network towers, construction of classroom blocks, health facilities, and other critical infrastructure, are a testament to President Hichilema’s visionary leadership,” Lubusha emphasized.

Lubusha highlighted several notable projects undertaken in Chipangali Constituency, including the upgrade of Mulozi Primary School, funded by the Central Government, to provide quality infrastructure for learners. “Additionally, a 1×3 classroom block will be built at the school under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) 2025. Other projects include the procurement of 6,000 desks using CDF, aimed at ensuring no pupil sits on the floor.”

As a member of the opposition Patriotic Front party, Lubusha praised the government’s social welfare programs, such as social cash transfers, emergency transfers, and cash-for-work initiatives, which have improved the livelihoods of his constituents.

“My conscience is free and at peace. We are supporting the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema because we can see the development being implemented for Zambia,” Lubusha stated.

Lubusha also noted that over K2.9 million has been disbursed as loans to local entrepreneurs under the CDF program, promoting economic growth and development. “These initiatives demonstrate the dedication to improving lives and honoring the legacy of freedom fighters like the late Gray Zulu.”

The Chipangali lawmaker expressed confidence in President Hichilema’s leadership, saying the entire PF team in Eastern Province is united in their support. “We firmly believe that President Hichilema is the only visionary leader Zambia has at the moment, and it’s imperative that we all rally behind him to propel our nation forward.”

Lubusha also endorsed Severian Lungu, the UPND candidate for the Petauke parliamentary by-election, scheduled for February 6, 2025, describing him as “a person of noble character and an indigenous son of Petauke District.” Lubusha expressed confidence that Lungu would bring unprecedented development to Petauke.

Despite criticism, Lubusha remains resolute in his support for President Hichilema and his government. His stance has been echoed by other opposition lawmakers, including Independent Member of Parliament for Chasefu, Misheck Nyambose, who has also voiced his support for the UPND candidate and the government’s development agenda.
