Commission Engages Stakeholders Ahead of Pambashe By-election

The Commission has held some stakeholder meetings ahead of the Pambashe Parliamentary by-election scheduled for Thursday, 6th February, 2025.

Commissioner Mcdonald Chipenzi, who was accompanied by Provincial Electoral Officer, Mr. Kambinga Nondo, District Electoral Officer, Mr. Andrew Bwali and ECZ staff addressed the stakeholders.

In his Remarks to the political party Polling Agents, Commissioner Chipenzi said it was important for them to be aware of what was expected of them before, during and after the poll day.

Commissioner Chipenzi explained that the Commission would like to see an orderly and peaceful poll in Pambashe Constituency on poll day. He said the presence of Polling Agents at polling stations was key for promoting transparency and dispelling misinformation and disinformation in the process.

Commissioner Chipenzi acknowledged the crucial role the police play in the electoral process, especially in maintaining peace, law and order before, during, and after elections. He attributed the prevailing peace in Pambashe as testimony that the Police have already played their role so far and encouraged them to continue during and after the poll. He emphasised the need for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty.

The Commission called upon the Police Service not to hesitate to bring to book a political party or individual that would be found in breach of the code of conduct or perpetrating violence and any other criminal acts.
