Msanzala Constituency – With the 2026 general elections on the horizon, Hon. Titus Lungu, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Msanzala Constituency, is taking a proactive approach to engaging with the community. Recently, he visited the Anglican Church in Nyakachonkho, where he made significant donations to support local initiatives.

During his visit on Sunday, Lungu donated 10 pockets of cement, 90 chitenge materials to support the women in the church choir, a Bluetooth portable speaker with a microphone, and K1,000 in cash. The donation was warmly received by Reverend Zhiphania Banda and the church members, highlighting Mr. Lungu’s dedication to community development initiatives.

Reverend Banda thanked Mr. Lungu for his kindness, stating that the donation will significantly benefit the church and its community. He noted that this is the first time such a gesture has been made to their church, contrasting Mr. Lungu’s actions with past experiences where MPs would promise without delivering. He thanked Mr. Lungu and encouraged him to continue with the same leadership spirit.

In an interview, Mr. Lungu, who had just concluded a lengthy conversation with senior local residents following the church service, underscored the significance of seeking wisdom from elders in leadership. “As I continue my journey to aspire as the 2026 Member of Parliament for Msanzala Constituency, I’ve come to realize the immense importance of seeking wisdom from our elders,” he said. “Our senior local citizens possess a wealth of knowledge and experience that can guide us in making informed decisions and becoming effective leaders.”

Lungu noted that listening with humility is key to gaining valuable insights from elders. “Through my interactions with many senior citizens in our community, I’ve learned that listening with humility is key to gaining valuable insights,” he said. “By attentively listening to their stories, experiences, and perspectives, we can gain a deeper understanding of our community’s needs and develop solutions that benefit everyone.”

The aspiring MP expressed his commitment to seeking guidance from senior citizens as he prepares to take on a leadership role. “Our elders can teach us the art of influence, showing us how to build relationships, communicate effectively, and inspire others to work towards a common goal,” he said. “I firmly believe that their wisdom, experience, and insights will be invaluable in helping me make informed decisions and serve our community effectively.”

Lungu urged fellow aspiring leaders to appreciate the wisdom and knowledge of senior citizens. “Let’s take a moment to appreciate the wisdom and knowledge of our senior citizens,” he said. “Let’s listen to their stories, learn from their experiences, and seek their guidance. By doing so, we’ll become better leaders and build a brighter future for our community.”

In a separate initiative, Mr. Lungu empowered youths and women in Chingolo Ward with economic opportunities by providing barbing machines and hair dryers (blowers) for hair salons. During the handover ceremony, Mr. Lungu emphasized that the initiative aims to foster economic independence and entrepreneurship among the beneficiaries.

“This initiative will enable you to start or grow your businesses, contributing to job creation and economic resilience,” he said. “Ultimately, our collective efforts will pave the way for a brighter future for our community. We remain committed to serving the people of Msanzala Constituency through impactful community development initiatives, and we look forward to continued engagement and collaboration towards a prosperous future.”
