Lusaka, Zambia – Douglas Hakalangwa, popularly known as DJ Doug, is a talented artist who has been making waves in the music industry with his unique blend of singing, rapping, producing, and DJing.
Born and raised in Mongu, DJ Doug’s passion for music began at a young age. He started his music journey while still in secondary school at Kambule, where he met friends who shared his passion for music. He later graduated with a diploma in computer science from the University of Zambia.
DJ Doug’s big break came when he met Smack Jay, who introduced him to Jah Boy, leading to the formation of JD Swag in 2012. The group took over the western province by storm, and DJ Doug’s talent soon earned him recognition.
In 2013, DJ Doug moved to Chirundu and set up his own recording studio, inspired by his idol, Macky 2. He taught himself how to DJ and later perfected his craft with the help of DJ Gyg. He has since worked with numerous artists, both established and up-and-coming, and has introduced the Chirundu Entertainment Awards for three consecutive years.
DJ Doug’s music focuses on educating and entertaining, and he has recently featured on a song titled “Nifuna Ubwelele” by Lyriq Elayy, alongside Kayz Adams. He is currently working on new music set to be released before January 2026.
Despite facing challenges such as lack of sponsorship and low income, DJ Doug remains determined to add value to his brand and craft. He is now a freelancer DJ based in Lusaka and Chirundu, organizing his own events to earn extra income.
