Lusaka, Zambia – Aspiring Silwizya Ward 13 Councilor, Gabriel ‘Mungeli’ Kaoma, has condemned political violence, appealing to youths to refrain from being used as tools for violent acts.

Speaking during a special interview on Money FM Radio hosted by Godwin Lungu, Kaoma emphasized that politics should be about ideas, not violence, and urged fellow youths to demand better from their leaders.
“Politics should and must be about ideas and not resorting to violence,” Kaoma said, adding that it’s time for Zambians to focus on issues that matter and engage in respectful dialogue.

Kaoma’s call comes amid concerns over rising political violence in the country, with many youths often being used as pawns in violent clashes.
The aspiring Councilor urged youths to think critically about those sponsoring violence and questioned why they don’t have their own family members involved.

“Ask yourself, why those sponsoring you to be tools of violence don’t have their children or family members taking part in such vices,” he said.
He further stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in the justice system, stating that “justice shouldn’t just be done, but seen, so as to bring confidence in both our police and courts.”

Kaoma also condemned the recent incident in Kabwe where PF Acting President Given Lubinda was harassed, describing it as “sad to see an elder, a parent being pulled violently by youths”.

He emphasized that the issue of political party affiliation was irrelevant, and that justice should be done regardless of the individuals involved.
Kaoma’s statement has been welcomed by many, who are calling for peaceful politics and an end to violence.

The Zambia Police Service has been urged to ensure that perpetrators of political violence are brought to book, and Kaoma’s appeal is seen as a positive step towards promoting peaceful co-existence and encouraging youths to engage in constructive politics.
