Nalolo… Thursday October 16, 2025
Acting Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) Chairperson Brian Ndumba has expressed satisfaction with the design and quality of the newly constructed Muoyo Maternity Annex at Muoyo Rural Health Centre in Nalolo District, describing it as a model facility that should be replicated across Western Province.

Mr. Ndumba said the facility stands out for its high-quality workmanship and thoughtful design, noting that similar standards should be adopted in other districts to improve maternal health infrastructure.
“Where we have a health facility, there must be a maternity wing for our mothers. I am most impressed with the structure here in Nalolo because, in other districts, this kind of block would be equivalent to a health post or a clinic,” he said.

“We need to engage the provincial leadership so that this can now be a model in every district. These are very good works,” he added.
He made the remarks on Wednesday, October 14, 2025, when he led a team from the Commission on a tour of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in Nalolo District.
Constructed at a cost of K1,195,876.13 using the 2022 expanded CDF, the Muoyo Maternity Annex was built by local contractor Newa Liberal General Dealers.

Mr. Ndumba commended the company for delivering quality work and urged Local Authorities to continue empowering local contractors.
“This has been done by a local contractor. Surely, there is no need to go to Lusaka for contractors when our own people can deliver such quality infrastructure. We just need to encourage and support them,” he said.
During the visit, Mr. Ndumba, who was accompanied by Deputy Commission Secretary Shadrick Simukonda and Commissioner Justina Phiri Chikota, also inspected newly installed street lights along Muoyo Road.

He praised the Nalolo Town Council for implementing the project, which is being undertaken by another local contractor, Western Goods Foundation Business Ventures, at a cost of over K1.8 million, funded through the Roads Fund.
The LGSC team’s visit was part of efforts to monitor and appreciate the impact of CDF-funded projects on service delivery in local communities.
