Aspiring Member of Parliament Titus Lungu has outlined a comprehensive plan to tackle youth unemployment and empower women in Msanzala Constituency. Mr. Lungu’s strategy involves establishing a skills training centre, providing tools, working capital, and soft loans to support young entrepreneurs, and engaging youth in decision-making processes through an “open doors policy” approach.

The skills training centre will be established in partnership with stakeholders, where young people can acquire practical skills to enhance their employability. Mr. Lungu emphasized his commitment to an “open doors policy” approach, saying he will be available 24/7 for ideas and counsel, ensuring that young people’s voices are heard and valued. This approach, he believes, will foster a sense of ownership and inclusivity among young people, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the constituency’s development.

Mr. Lungu also highlighted the importance of empowering women, particularly in agriculture, by providing them with modern farming methods and livestock for startup. He is already on the ground encouraging women to take up leadership roles in various spheres, form cooperatives, and provide them with the necessary skills and resources to enhance their productivity and economic well-being.
The aspirant candidate has extended the poultry empowerment program to the women at Nyamphande Market, which will empower about 200 women with a chicken run program.

Regarding funding, Mr. Lungu said he has been funding most of the initiatives using his personal resources, but plans to work closely with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations, to secure funding and support. He will also explore innovative financing models and partnerships to ensure the sustainability of these initiatives.

With the right support and resources, he said he believes a real difference in the lives of Msanzala’s residents will be made for the youths and women in Msanzala Constituency.
