Two suspected criminals were fatally shot during an exchange of fire between police officers and alleged armed robbers in Lusaka’s Mumbwa Road area. The incident occurred around 11:00 hours today, following an intelligence-led operation earlier in the morning.

According to police, officers received information about a group of known armed criminals spotted at Central Shopping Mall in Kabulonga. The suspects fled in a white Toyota Mark X, leading police on a high-speed chase to Pinnacle Mall, where three suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Two suspects, George Chuma and Mududuzi Moyo, were apprehended and later led police to the Mumbwa Road location, where an exchange of fire ensued. The two suspects were hit by stray bullets and pronounced dead on arrival at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
Police recovered various breaking implements and exhibits from the suspects’ vehicle, including a pistol with an erased serial number loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
The bodies have been deposited in the UTH mortuary, and an inquiry file has been opened. Further investigations are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The Zambia Police Service urges members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing any information that may lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
