In the world of bodybuilding, one name is rapidly becoming synonymous with excellence: Shadreck Freeman Mwaba, affectionately known as “The Prodigy.”

This Zambian sensation has been making waves in the industry, grabbing every title in his path. With an impressive array of wins under his belt, Mwaba sat down with us to share his inspiring story.
Mwaba’s journey into bodybuilding began in 2008, inspired by the likes of Jeremy Buendia and Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, it wasn’t until 2019 that he became fully committed to the sport.

“I am the only one in my family to choose this career,” he reveals, “and now I’m influencing my siblings and relatives.”
Mwaba revealed that he had a spiritual past, having served as an ordained elder in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. However, he parted ways with the church due to its disapproval of his bodybuilding pursuits, opting instead to focus on his athletic career.

With six years of competing experience, Mwaba has amassed an impressive collection of titles, including two-time Mr. Zambia Men’s Physique winner and the recent Fitness Physiques Africa Zimbabwe 2025 Open Men’s Physique champion.
His confidence is palpable as he reflects on his wins. “It’s my third time winning it, and for me, that felt like ‘I am the best at this.'”

Mwaba credits his success to his training regimen and mentorship. Affiliated with Garden Gym under Mandevu constituency, he works closely with his coach, Romeo Moffat, an IFBB Pro athlete and international bodybuilding coach. “Training is literally part of my life,” he emphasizes.
Known for his candid nature, discipline, and devotion to personal growth, Mwaba believes life rewards input. His nickname “Prodigy” reflects his humble beginnings and natural talent.

“I am not educated; I am a grade 6 dropout,” he shares humbly. “Everything you see or know about me is pure gift and talent.”
As Mwaba looks to the future, he aims to compete outside Zambia, targeting countries like Mozambique, Angola, South Africa, and Kenya.
“Locally, I have proven beyond doubt that I am the best here,” he asserts. Upcoming tournaments include Mr. Zambia 2025 and Alex Classic 2025, where he promises to deliver a “better version” of himself.

Mwaba acknowledges the challenges he faces, including lack of sponsorship and the high costs associated with bodybuilding.
Despite these obstacles, he remains focused and encourages his fans to follow their dreams. “Don’t let anyone discourage you,” he advises.
