In a candid and inspiring conversation, we sat down with Gloria Kabungo Siyanzana, a renowned musician, dedicated leader, and passionate advocate for the rights of artists. With her remarkable story, Gloria is leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire and empower future generations of artists.
As a visionary leader, Gloria’s impressive academic credentials and multifaceted talents have established her as a force to be reckoned with. Boasting an array of distinguished academic achievements, including certificates in General Principles of Law, Basic Prosecution, and Diplomatic Practice, Protocol, and Public Relations, as well as a Diploma in Law, a Bachelor of Laws degree, and a Master of Laws in Corporate and Commercial Law, Gloria is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Law. With her remarkable academic background, Gloria has developed the skills and expertise necessary to navigate the complexities of the music industry, empowering her to make a lasting impact as a musician, leader, and advocate.

Gloria’s music journey began in 1999, when she first took to the stage at the Zambia Women in Music Festival. Her debut performance attracted many sponsors, including the Zambia National Service, who offered her employment as a lead singer for the Green Labels Band. “Music is an inherent gift that runs in my family,” Gloria shares. “I’m grateful to have been able to take it to the next level.”
Gloria’s music journey is a remarkable one. Despite her busy schedule, she dedicates most of her evenings, after work and school, to crafting her music. “I spend most of my nights working on my music, perfecting every detail,” Gloria shares. “It’s a labor of love, and I’m committed to producing music that inspires and uplifts my audience.”
Her collaborations with renowned producers, including Bersha Rodney, Trixtar, Sebastian Mutale, and Jery Fingers, have resulted in music that resonates with audiences nationwide. Her album “Prophecy” has made waves in the music industry. “I’m a preacher, and God inspired every piece of music on the album,” Gloria shares. “It’s an encouragement to everyone that we are all called to serve the Lord and proclaim His goodness.”
Gloria collaborated with her nieces, Karen Lumbwa Bwalay and Dr. Yenesha Namenda, on the album. “The production process was a labor of love,” Gloria reflects. “We worked tirelessly, mostly at night, to create music that would inspire and uplift our audience.”

Gloria’s journey has not been without its challenges. However, she has consistently demonstrated her ability to navigate obstacles, using them as opportunities for growth. “I’m a goal-getter, and I never look at challenges as stumbling blocks,” Gloria emphasizes. “I do my best, put it out there, and let my work speak for me.”
Her advice to aspiring artists is simple yet profound: “Stay focused and build your brand.” As the chairperson of ZAMCOPS, Gloria has demonstrated her commitment to the growth and development of the music industry. Her experience as Secretary General of the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) has equipped her with the knowledge and expertise to drive positive change.
Gloria’s vision for the industry is clear: “If laws are not enacted, the industry will remain the same,” she cautions. “We need to advocate for policies that protect the rights of artists and promote the growth of the sector.” Her legacy in the Zambian music sector is already being felt. Her tireless advocacy for the rights of artists, her commitment to promoting unity and collaboration within the industry, and her dedication to empowering musicians have made a lasting impact.

“I hope to leave a legacy as the leader who made significant life-changing strides, law reforms, and welfare improvements in the industry,” Gloria reflects. Gloria’s ability to balance her work, family, and music is a testament to her organizational skills and dedication. “I’m intentional about apportioning time for each activity,” Gloria shares. “It’s not always easy, but it’s essential to maintaining a healthy work-life balance.”
On a personal note, Gloria’s aspirations extend beyond the music industry; she hopes to one day fly a plane, a testament to her boundless enthusiasm and passion for life. Gloria’s approach to leadership is centered on fostering collaboration and unity within the music industry. “I always encourage unity,” she emphasizes. “We speak with one voice.” This commitment to unity has enabled her to build bridges and bring people together, even in the face of adversity.
Gloria’s commitment to staying current with industry trends and innovations is evident in her love of reading and research. She is always seeking new knowledge and insights, ensuring that she remains at the forefront of the industry. When asked about upcoming projects or initiatives, Gloria’s eyes light up with excitement. “Plenty,” she says with a smile. “The building of the ZAMCOPS facility, monetization of social media platforms, and blank media levy are close to my heart.”
