As the world grapples with the complexities of sustainable development, community leadership, and governance, the importance of visionary leadership cannot be overstated. Meet, Wamulume Mutemwa, a 34-year-old Zambian, who is spearheading transformative change in Mwembeshi ward 31, with his sights set on revolutionizing the community’s future.

A product of Chunga township, Matero constituency, Wamulume’s educational journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence. He attended Chunga Basic School, Barlastone Park School, and Kabulonga Boys Secondary School, before pursuing a diploma in Business Management from the Zambia Institute of Management (ZAMIM).
Wamulume’s corporate experience, garnered from working in accounts at CFAO Zambia Limited and holding various roles at Arm Secure Limited, has equipped him with exceptional financial management and leadership skills, positioning him for greatness in the public sector.

Growing up in Chunga township, Wamulume’s experiences have instilled a deep appreciation for community development and a burning desire to drive meaningful change. Inspired by the likes of Nelson Mandela and President Hakainde Hichilema, Wamulume is driven to leave an indelible mark on his community.
“As a young leader, I believe it’s essential to listen to the needs of our community, think outside the box, and work together to find innovative solutions,” Wamulume emphasized. “My involvement with the church from a young age taught me the importance of serving others, giving back to the community, and striving for excellence.”

Wamulume’s foray into community leadership began at the tender age of 15, through his involvement with his local church. This early start has honed his interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and strategic thinking, making him an ideal candidate for public office.
As the aspiring councilor for Mwembeshi ward 31, Wamulume is committed to revolutionizing infrastructure, education, and healthcare in the ward. Mwembeshi ward 31 faces numerous challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, limited access to quality education and healthcare, unemployment, devastating floods during rain seasons, and poor garbage collection, which poses a significant threat to public health.

“The floods in our ward have caused immense suffering and loss of life, while the lack of effective garbage collection has exposed our community to the risk of waterborne diseases,” Wamulume noted. “As councilor, I plan to work with the community to develop innovative solutions to mitigate the effects of flooding, improve garbage collection, ensure our residents are safe and secure, and drive sustainable development.”

With seven years of active politics under his belt, Wamulume has held various positions within the UPND. As WDC Treasurer, he has ensured financial stability, employed staff, and demonstrated his ability to manage resources effectively, setting a new standard for leadership. He has also been actively engaged on the ground, providing critical support to flood-affected residents, which has garnered him widespread recognition and respect from the Mwembeshi ward 31 community.

“My experience as WDC Treasurer has taught me the importance of prudent financial management, effective resource allocation, and strategic planning,” Wamulume said. “I’m committed to bringing this expertise to the council, securing vital funding, and driving transformative change in our ward, including improving garbage collection services to safeguard public health.”
Wamulume’s leadership style is characterized by his ability to think critically, listen, and accommodate diverse views. “One of my greatest strengths is my ability to bring people together, find common ground, and drive collective progress,” Wamulume stated confidently.

Wamulume remains optimistic about the ward’s potential, planning to utilize increased funds to tackle challenges head-on. “As I work closely with our community, I’m constantly reminded of the power of collective effort and the boundless potential that lies within us,” he said.
When asked what inspired him to run for Councilorship, Wamulume shared, “I want to continue implementing community projects that our ward desperately needs, drive innovation, and set a new standard for leadership. Our community has lagged behind for many years, so I’m determined to push for more projects, secure vital funding, and drive transformative change.”

Wamulume believes his unique blend of skills, experience, and passion for community development makes him an ideal candidate for the highest office in the land. “With a proven track record of effective leadership, I’m confident in my ability to bring innovative solutions that drive meaningful change, inspire hope, and transform lives,” he said.
On a personal note, Wamulume is happily married to Grace Mbangonse Njovu, who he considers his pillar of strength. “My wife has been an incredible source of support and encouragement,” he said.

As Wamulume works tirelessly for Mwembeshi ward 31, his legacy as a local youthful community leader continues to take shape, inspiring hope for a brighter future and setting a new standard for visionary leadership.
