ELN REPORTER: Cecilia, who really is Cecilia Mwila Banda, and what inspired you to start music?
CECILIA: I’m a firstborn in a family of four, and music has been a part of my life since I can remember. Growing up in Zambia, I was surrounded by music and ministry, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to use my gift to spread God’s love and message of hope. My love for music was ignited by my family and church community, who encouraged me to sing and share my talents with others. As I grew in my faith, I realized that music was not just a hobby, but a calling to minister to others and bring glory to God. Today, as a medical practitioner and musician, I’m grateful to have two platforms to serve and inspire others – through my profession and through my music. My music is a reflection of my journey, struggles, and triumphs, and I’m humbled to be able to share it with the world.
ELN REPORTER: Your song “One Day” was released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and became an anthem of hope and resilience for many. What inspired you to write this song, and how did you hope it would impact your listeners?
CECILIA: “One Day” was born out of a desire to share a message of hope and faith with the world. As a medical practitioner, I saw firsthand the impact of the pandemic on people’s lives, and I wanted to use my gift to bring comfort and inspiration to those who were struggling. I hoped that the song would be a reminder that God is always in control, and that He has a plan to bring us through every storm.

ELN REPORTER: Your music is deeply rooted in your faith and experiences as a medical practitioner. How do you balance your passion for music with your profession, and what role does your faith play in your creative process?
CECILIA: As a medical practitioner, I’ve seen the fragility of life and the importance of living each day with purpose. My faith is at the core of everything I do, and it’s what inspires me to create music that uplifts and inspires others. Music is a way for me to express my faith and share God’s love with others, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to do so.
ELN REPORTER: As a medical practitioner in the UK and before moving to the UK, can you tell us a bit about your medical career journey?
CECILIA: As a medical practitioner, I’ve had the privilege of serving in different capacities, both in Zambia and the UK. Before moving to the UK, I worked in Zambia for several years, where I gained valuable experience and insight into the healthcare needs of my community. Since relocating to the UK, I’ve continued to work in the medical field, bringing my skills and experience to a new context. While the healthcare systems and challenges may differ, my passion for delivering quality care and making a positive impact on patients’ lives remains the same. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow and learn as a medical practitioner, and I’m excited to see where my career takes me next.
ELN REPORTER: You’re known for your powerful vocals and inspiring lyrics. What drives your creativity, and what message do you hope your music conveys to your listeners?
CECILIA: I’m driven by a desire to share God’s love and message of hope with the world. My music is a reflection of my journey, struggles, and triumphs, and I hope that it inspires and uplifts others. I believe that music has the power to bring people together and provide comfort in times of need, and I’m committed to using my platform to share God’s love with others.
ELN REPORTER: You’re set to release a new song and video, “Getting Better”. Can you tell us more about this upcoming project, and what fans can expect from it?
CECILIA: “Getting Better” is a message of hope and encouragement, reminding us that God is always in control and that He has a plan to bring us through every storm. The song is a reflection of my own journey and struggles, and I’m confident that it will bless and uplift listeners. I’m excited to share this new music with the world, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to do so.

ELN REPORTER: What can fans expect from you going forward? What are your plans and goals for your music career?
CECILIA: I’m excited about the future and the plans God has for me. Going forward, fans can expect more music that inspires and uplifts, music that shares God’s love and message of hope with the world. I’m working on new projects, including collaborations with other artists and exploring different genres of music. My goal is to continue using my platform to spread God’s love and inspire others, and I’m confident that God will take me to new heights. I’m also looking forward to connecting with my fans more, sharing my journey and experiences, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me. Ultimately, my goal is to bring glory to God and make a difference in the lives of others through my music.

CECILIA: I would say that music is a gift, and it’s something that should be shared with the world. Don’t be afraid to take risks and pursue your passion, and always remember that your music has the power to inspire and uplift others. Most importantly, stay grounded in your faith and remember that God is the source of your inspiration and creativity.
