The Lusaka High Court has received a total of 41 petitions at parliamentary level as at the close of the window to challenge the 2026 parliamentary election results yesterday.
Among the latest petitions seeking fresh elections is one filed by losing UPND candidate Lee Mukupa in Lusaka’s Lima constituency.
Mr. Mukupa polled 8,041 votes against declared winner Kelvin Kaunda of National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity-NRPUP-, who got 22,760 votes.
Others include independent candidate Innocent Kolala for Lubansenshi constituency in Luwingu, who polled 4,301 votes against declared winner George Mwamba of NRPUP, who garnered 4,312 votes while UPND’s Chewe Tailo has also petitioned the Lubansenshi parliamentary election after polling 2,010 votes.
In Chadiza West, UPND candidate Jonathan Daka, who polled 7,085 votes, has petitioned against NRPUP candidate Obert Phiri, who was declared winner after polling 8,566 votes.
Meanwhile, NRPUP candidate Geoffrey Chumbwe has petitioned the chongwe east election against independent candidate anita kamanga.
Other petitions include that by Citizen First candidate Simon Muwa in Chilubi, who polled 2,760 votes against UPND candidate Mathias Chitembo, who obtained 10,429 votes, and independent candidate Daniel Phiri in Chama South, who polled 3,220 votes against fellow independent candidate Nkata Jerix, who obtained 4,338 votes.
The latest filings bring the total number of parliamentary election petitions before the Lusaka High Court awaiting determination to 41.
