LUSAKA – Pharmaceutical Consultant and Entrepreneur Mr. Obbie Musunga Chomba has challenged young leaders to prepare adequately before opportunities arrive, saying most people miss opportunities not because they are unlucky but because they are unprepared.

Mr. Chomba said this on Saturday when he mentored young leaders at the Meet My Mentor Foundation at the invitation of Ms. Chilungu Chakulimba Musangu.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Mr. Chomba said people often pray for opportunities, promotions and breakthroughs without asking if they would be ready if those opportunities came tomorrow.
“We allow fear to convince us to remain comfortable today because we cannot predict tomorrow. But extraordinary lives are rarely built from comfort,” he wrote.

The three-time founder urged youths to build competence, character, decision-making skills and relationships, noting that preparation involves failing, learning and trying again.
He disclosed that at 17, his parents challenged him to leave home, an experience he described as stressful at the time but which later taught him responsibility and independence.

“Stop waiting for the opportunity to begin preparing. When your moment comes, you will not have time to become ready. You will only have time to prove whether you were,” Mr. Chomba said.
