The woman, 63-year-old Abesta Mwiinga, a single parent and owner of the house, has been living in a precarious situation, with a severely damaged side wall since the devastating downpour on January 29, 2025. The house, which is home to eight family members, including Mrs. Mwiinga, has been rendered uninhabitable, with water seeping in and threatening to collapse the remaining structure. A police investigation has revealed that a couple found dead in their Misisi Township home appears to have died as a result of a murder-suicide.According to Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, preliminary investigations suggest that the husband, Penis Tembo, 37, allegedly killed his wife, Tionenji Tembo, 35, before taking his own life. In a devastating conclusion to a tragic case, Nalukui Akafekwa, a 26-year-old man from Garden Chilulu compound in Lusaka, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the gruesome murder of 10-year-old Chikondi Banda. A Staff Sergeant in the Zambia National Service (ZNS) has been dismissed after being found guilty of abetting the smuggling of mealie meal on the Copperbelt Province.
