In a bid to inspire positive change in communities, Dreamers Youth Alliance, a community-driven youth initiative, has been making significant strides in its mission to combat social ills affecting young people.

Led by group founder, Emmanuel Phiri, the organization has been at the forefront of addressing pressing issues such as drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and early pregnancies, while empowering youths to become responsible citizens.
Phiri explains that the organization was created to provide a support system for young people, who are often vulnerable to negative influences in today’s fast-paced world.

“We recognized the need to intervene and provide alternatives to the destructive paths many youths are taking,” he said. “Our goal is to equip them with life skills, keep them in school, and help them become positive contributors to society.”
The organization’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, with Dreamers Youth Alliance receiving overwhelming acknowledgement for its work. Operating for over three years, the group has grown to become a beacon of hope for many young people, with a significant membership base.

Phiri reveals plans to expand the organization to other provinces, citing the success of their campaign in Lusaka’s Chawama compound, which has inspired youths in other areas like Kabwe, Kitwe, and Ndola to join the movement.
To reach a wider audience, the organization uses music as a powerful tool to convey its message. Through its record label, Blue Sky Music, Dreamers Youth Alliance produces songs that address issues like drug abuse, peer pressure, and the importance of staying in school.

The organization also empowers youths with music talent, who have been affected by substance abuse, by signing them to the label and providing a platform to showcase their skills.
Godfrey Kabeba, Director of Programs at Dreamers Youth Alliance and CEO of Goldshine Media Arts, emphasizes the importance of using music to inspire positive change.

“Music has the power to transcend boundaries and speak to young people in a way that resonates with them,” he said. “By using this medium, we aim to reach more youths and encourage them to make informed choices.”
As Dreamers Youth Alliance continues to grow, its leaders are optimistic about the future. “We envision a society where young people are empowered, educated, and equipped to become responsible leaders,” Phiri said. “With our work, we are confident that we can make a lasting impact and create a brighter future for our communities.”
