Lusaka, Zambia – Obbie Musunga Chomba, who’s gunning for the Munali Constituency MP seat, is running as an independent candidate and he’s not sweating it. In fact, he’s hyped.

Speaking on Diamond TV Zambia’s Breakfast Show, Chomba said his decision to run solo isn’t a personal decision; it’s about the people of Munali wanting him to step up. Chomba emphasized that standing as an independent candidate is only tough if you’re not in sync with the people.

“I’ve never been partisan; I’ve always been a patriotic Zambian citizen,” he said. “It only becomes tough standing as an independent candidate if you’re not resonating with the people and their interests and desires.”

Chomba believes his community roots are his superpower. “My bid is not about me; it’s about the people of Munali,” he emphasized. And it seems like they’re buying what he’s selling – residents are already rallying behind him.

Chomba’s campaign slogan “Amatwi Kubantu” is resonating well with folks in Munali. Through this slogan, he’s conveying a message of hope and inclusivity, promising to be a leader who listens and responds to the community’s needs.

His campaign, “The Munali We Want”, is a people-centred strategic plan focusing on pressing issues like clean water, sanitation, security, empowerment, job opportunities, healthcare, and education – long-standing concerns for Munali residents.
